I Remember Summer Skies

I recently submitted this poem to a local publication; it has also appeared in "Dance of the Spirit."

I Remember Summer Skies
I remember summer skies
drowsy heat, dragonflies
murmuring voices far away
filtered sunlight through the day...
drifting through hills, caves and trees,
entwining paths of rattlesnakes, bees.

Ever seeking parts unknown
dusty trails of native zone
roaming where ancients softly tread
through rusty canyons, rocky bed.

I remember summer skies
majestic, soaring red hawk flies
shimmering days to hypnotize
Elusive summer skies.
